Ah, the Sprial Jetty. This land art piece by Robert Smithson (1970) is constantly chenging. The first time I saw, wwe arrived just as a thunderstorm was breaking up. The Salt Lake's waters were just starting to receed and the jetty rocks were being exposed for the first time in 30 years; they were crusted in salt. The combination of the bright white rocks and the rich pink water, against the vivid blue sky caused me to shoot every roll of film in my bag.
